Energy Bill To Result In Rising Electricity Costs

The coalition government has drafted an Energy Bill which seeks to increase the use of renewables in the UK as they look to reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent by the year 2050. However, the DECC has estimated that the Energy Bill will result in electricity bills rising by as much as £160 by 2030.

This news comes at a time when electricity bills are already at an all-time high and thousands of UK homeowners are desperately looking into ways of cutting costs e.g. switching supplier. You can do more to cut the cost of electricity by following the below list of hints and tips:

  • Replace all traditional light bulbs with energy-saving light bulbs as each individual energy-saving will consume less energy and save you money.
  • When leaving a room empty always turn all the lights off.
  • Never leave televisions, radios etc. on standby as they will still continue to consume energy when the red light is on. Always pull the plug out.
  • Always put a full load in dishwashers and washing machines instead of washing plates and clothes in dribs and drabs.
  • Only use air conditioning in your home when warmth becomes a serious issue.Get in touch with AC installation experts in Fort Myers, FL if air conditioning becomes an issue.
  • Install solar powered lights in your back garden as they are far more energy efficient than a conventional set of lights.
  • Don’t set your thermostat too high.
