Will A Composite Door Or UPVC Door Be Your Best Solution?

You may not realise just how big of an impact fitting a new door to your house can have on the property. It can completely transform its appearance, enhance thermal efficiency and improve security.

Red Composite Doors

This realisation should be enough to persuade you have your old door taken out and exchanged for something modern, perhaps a new composite or UPVC door.

Door buyers always express a large amount of interest in our composite doors and UPVC doors, but they’re often left stumped as to which of these reliable door solutions they should opt for.

To be honest, you cannot go wrong with either door however, once you have more of a solid understanding of both options, you will be able to make a well-educated decision.

Composite Doors

On your first encounter with a composite door, you will be struck by the extreme thickness of the frame. It’s the use of multiple materials to create the door profile, including PVC, wood, insulating foam and GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) that gives it its thickness and makes it one of the most robust door offerings available.

The feel of a composite door alone will tell you that it will keep your home perfectly secure, and extra reassurance of that will come when you engage the multi-point locking system.

Composite doors are strong insulators too and you can have them supplied with an authentic woodgrain if you want a timber-like effect.

It does cost more to buy a composite door than a UPVC door, but it will be worth every penny in the long-term.

UPVC Doors

A UPVC door unit is basically an insulated steel frame encased within unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC). With a slimmer profile than a composite door frame, UPVC doors still deliver various qualities.

For instance, they’re tough enough to withstand outside force and the weather, plus they’ll also heat your hallway and allow very little coldness from the outdoors to enter into the house.

You barely have to do anything to maintain a UPVC door, which is also true of a composite door. A wet cloth will do to wipe the door completely clean every now and again.

A fabulous suite of composite doors and UPVC doors, along with a contemporary selection of timber doors, are elegantly displayed at our Gillingham showroom. We have our own front door open and ready for you to visit.
