How To Make Sure Your Home Is Energy Efficient In Time For Winter

Temperatures are slowly starting to drop and we have already experienced a few frosty mornings, which can only mean that winter is on its way.

Flush Evolution Windows

Last winter was one of the coldest in recent memory, so it’s always best to brace yourself for the worst and ensure that your property is as energy efficient as possible should we be in for more of the same.

The installation of energy efficient windows and doors is an absolute must in this day and age. We supply double and triple glazed solutions that can achieve remarkably low U-Values and save you fortunes on fuel bills. You can get a FREE quote for them here.

A more energy efficient home can be achieved in other ways too…

Only heat the rooms you use

When you’re sat in your living room for large portions of the day, what is the point in having the heating on in those rooms that predominantly sit empty? It’s a waste of energy and money. Just heat the rooms you use most.

Use the timer function on your heating box

You know when people will be in and out of your house, so set the timer on your heating box accordingly, only setting it to come in when the house is occupied. There are even apps you can download now to control your heating while on the move away from home.

Lower your thermostat

Lowering the temperature on your thermostat by just a degree or two can save you a lot of money and reputedly even help you get a better night’s sleep and lose weight!

Get your boiler serviced

You should have your boiler serviced by a qualified engineer annually as the service will identify any problems and check if it is offering optimum thermal performance. This will minimise the chances of the boiler breaking down at an inopportune time and could uncover that investment into a new boiler is necessary.

Fit energy-saving lightbulbs

Any old incandescent lightbulbs in your house should be replaced with energy-saving lightbulbs as they use about 25%-80% less energy. They’re also likely to last 3-25 times longer.

Implement all of our suggestions now and integrate our energy efficient windows and doors to enjoy the first of many cosy winters.
