Over time, a home can start to lose its aesthetic appeal. The beautiful property that you first moved into may now be a pale shadow of its former self and in need of some urgent repair. But sometimes it only takes a few subtle changes to restore it to its former glory. Changing the windows is one such measure as the older a window gets the more untidy and unattractive it can appear.
This is particularly true of traditional timber windows which as time progresses start to rot away and decay, creating a negative overall image of your home. A dated set of windows can even damage the overall impression people get of your home all on their own as they can spoil its appearance hugely.
After standing back and contemplating where changes need to be made and coming to the decision that your windows are largely responsible, you need…
The rising levels of fuel poverty, energy prices and hypothermia has led to consumer experts uSwitch to campaign for VAT to be ditched from energy bills. The current rate of VAT on gas and electricity bills is 5%. uSwitch suggest that if VAT were to be scrapped then it would result in up to 250,000 households being taken out of fuel poverty and an overall drop in the cost of energy.
Ann Robinson, Director of Consumer Policy at uSwitch, said: “Removing VAT from our energy bills would help to alleviate the growing financial pressure that consumers are coming under, enable many more to keep warm in the winter and snatch 250,000 households from the grip of fuel poverty.
“When added to the recent £34 price cut made by suppliers, the removal of VAT would see household energy bills tumble by almost £100 a year.
“I would urge the Government to consider this…
Increasing number of British householders are being forced into fuel poverty because of the rising cost of energy. In 2011, all the major energy suppliers have raised their prices and this had a huge knock-on effect on homeowners finances, forcing many to go without fuel even when they need it most. There are ways of solving the problem
Anyone who finds themselves in this difficult position is encouraged to shop around for a cheaper energy tariff as you should never settle for the first energy quote you receive. Very often you will find that you can find a better deal.
Once you have found the best available tariff for your energy usage throughout the year you then need to pay attention to the windows you already have installed. Around 25% of heat lost from the home is due to poorly-insulated windows, so if you find that your windows are letting…
Now that winter is in full swing and temperatures have dropped, your dependence on your heating will have increased compared to previous months. Some more than others. Those with single glazed windows will be heavily reliant on their boiler as a huge amount of heat from the home can be lost through them, whereas those with double glazed windows will have far fewer energy bill problems.
Double glazing in Maidstone and double glazing in Chatham should be present in all households at this time of the year as they are specifically designed to store warm energy created in the home. So as you can probably guess they will also help keep your energy bills at a more affordable level than they would be should you persist with old poorly-insulated windows.
The cost of energy is expected to rise further in 2012; this is despite millions…
A report out from business groups has claimed that rising energy costs are damaging our economic recovery. Since the recession hit the UK, growth has been slow and it is believed that energy is partly to blame. Part of the reason why energy has gone up in price so quickly and rapidly is because there are an increasing number of homeowners unnecessarily wasting energy. You can help the country recover faster together with Eden Windows when you buy a new set of windows to replace your existing poorly insulated equivalents.
Double glazing in Maidstone from us will improve energy efficiency, which basically means that it will prevent the amount of hot air created by your boiler from leaving your property. Because of this you can then rely on your conventional heating less often, bringing down the cost of your energy bills and helping replenish the supply of energy we have…
Because of the fragile state of the economy and the threat of a further recession, we are all being urged to make improvements to our property if we want to retain its value. Most people will look to update their kitchen, bedroom, bathroom or living room first as they tend to be the areas where we spend the most amount of time when indoors.
But what about the outside of the home? If you have unused garden space available it makes sense to make use of it rather than let it go to waste. Conservatories in Maidstone and conservatories in Chatham will fit in perfectly and offer you new usable space for whatever purpose best suits you and your family needs.
Some like to use it as an extension of their dining room as it offers you the most beautiful location at breakfast, dinner or lunchtime. Others…
