Over time, a home can start to lose its aesthetic appeal. The beautiful property that you first moved into may now be a pale shadow of its former self and in need of some urgent repair. But sometimes it only takes a few subtle changes to restore it to its former glory. Changing the windows is one such measure as the older a window gets the more untidy and unattractive it can appear.
This is particularly true of traditional timber windows which as time progresses start to rot away and decay, creating a negative overall image of your home. A dated set of windows can even damage the overall impression people get of your home all on their own as they can spoil its appearance hugely.
After standing back and contemplating where changes need to be made and coming to the decision that your windows are largely responsible, you need…
Eden Windows continually strives to make homeowners aware of how they can save money in the home, particularly at a time when the cost of household fuel is more expensive than ever before. Now that spring has arrived and with summer on the horizon, there is no better time to look into ways of reducing your fuel bills.
We have just come off the back of a relatively mild winter, but most people will still have had to use their boiler much more frequently than they would throughout the rest of the year. As a result, they may well have found themselves in debt to their current energy company.
Rather than panic, now is the time when you will be able to recoup that money and find yourself in credit as boiler usage will be significantly reduced over the coming months. Therefore, it is also a good time to look…
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation for last month dropped to 3.4%, down from 3.6% inflation in January. This accounts for the lowest rate of inflation since November 2010.
Experts state that the drop in inflation can largely be put down to the reduction in price of gas and electricity bills in the last couple of months. Other contributing factors include discounting on digital cameras and cheaper air fares. However, they warn that a rise in oil and food prices over the coming months could have a severe impact upon future inflation and household budgets.
Homeowners also need to be aware that although many of the UK’s major energy suppliers have cut their prices in recent months, it is more than likely that energy bills will rise again at some point in the future and continue to do so in the long-term.…
Another day and yet another story about the high cost of energy for UK families. Research carried out has found that certain families are paying up to £330 per year more on their energy bills than families who consume the same amount of energy, incredible but true.
The IPPR think-tank estimates that there are at least 5.6 million people being affected by this huge problem which they say is occurring due to the larger energy companies out pricing their smaller counterparts, preventing them from gaining any sort of foothold in the energy market.
The new Energy and Climate Change Minister Ed Davey has pledged to do something about it, saying that the high price of energy bills is one of his top priorities. There is also pressure being put on by the Labour Party and the energy regulator Ofgem to ensure more fair play amongst suppliers.
The reluctance of people…
A price war is set to break out amongst the UKs major energy suppliers, not only amongst the big six, but also amongst the smaller energy companies who are desperately trying to end the dominance of British Gas, Eon, Scottish Power etc. Several companies have already announced their planned cuts, with others set to follow suit shortly. However you can cut your own energy bills simply by replacing any old windows in your home.
Generating your own electricity is a cost-effective solution to high energy bills but renewable energy is out of the financial reach of many which is why a new set of windows are a far more realistic proposition.
